What We Collect
Drop A Heater collects only the minimum data required to operate the service:
- DJ ID identity — Your DJ ID user identifier, email address, and display name are used to manage your subscription. These are provided by DJ ID when you sign in.
- Subscription and payment data — Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. We do not store credit card numbers.
- Recommendation quality metrics — When the app generates recommendations, we collect anonymous statistics about algorithm performance: how many compatible tracks were found, the size of the recommendation pool, and whether a recommendation was used. These metrics contain no track names, metadata, or library information — only aggregate counts used to improve recommendation quality.
What We Do Not Collect
- Your music library — Your Serato library data is read and processed entirely on your local machine. No track metadata, filenames, playlists, or crate data is ever transmitted to our servers.
- Your listening habits — We do not track which tracks you play, your playlist contents, or your recommendation history. Recommendation quality metrics (described above) contain only aggregate counts, never track-level data.
Network Calls
The Drop A Heater desktop app makes the following types of network calls:
- DJ ID authentication — To verify your identity via the DJ ID service at djid.me.
- Subscription validation — A single API call on launch to verify your subscription is active.
- Recommendation quality metrics — Anonymous aggregate counts sent when recommendations are generated (no track names or library data).
Data Storage
Subscription records are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Replit. Data is retained for the duration of your subscription plus a reasonable period for billing reconciliation.
